Dave and I are plunking away at new strips. We’ve decided to try and get a bank of strips ready before we start posting so that we can go for a while without interrupts. Right now we’re thinking November or December at the absolute earliest for the first new strip(s). Rest assured, however, that we are working!
The direction we’ve decided to take is to continue with the full color, full page comics. No more 3-4 panel “gag-a-day” strips. I’m still going to do my best to make Towne Pub a “jokey” strip. That’s just who the characters are. But I’m more interested in writing story arcs that don’t necessarily brake down into punchlines. Think of these as the “Spaceman Spiff” segments from Calvin & Hobbes.
I’m definitely going to be using the new character designs that you can see on the Pub Art page. I like these newer, cleaner, crisper designs. It should hopefully be easier for me to maintain consistency and maybe even let me draw strips more quickly once I hit my groove again. I haven’t seriously drawn on a daily basis in years, so I’m extremely rusty.
Dave and I will continue to update the Publog here, though, so feel free to check back and read through the older strips or post comments. I’ll update the site here and mention something on Facebook when we get closer to a launch date.
