There’s a new one shot up as of about five minutes ago. There are a few things that probably need explaining.
For one thing, it’s dated the 25th of February, but today is clearly the 28th. Well, to be honest, I’ve retroactively time-stamped it to match up with my Dad’s actual birthday. This is the first old skool (se how I purposely misspelled “school”? That’s because I am “hip”) strip that’s been posted in a long, looong time. It’s 100% hand drawn; the borders, that black fills, the word balloons, everything. Becuase of that, it took longer than expected to crank it out. I had planned on having the drawing finished on the 25th, which is my Dad’s actual birthday, but it took an extra day to finish, and then Dave needed the time to color it. So that’s why it’s a couple days late.
And for those of you not in the know (there I go again, freely and casually using slang), Farquar is based on my Dad, which is why he’s nicknamed “Dad” in the strip. We haven’t seen him since since Whizzer landed on him, and even then it was just his eyes floating in the dark. Still, it seemed only fitting to use him in a strip that was meant to be a tribute to my Dad.
Chaos 3 should be up on Monday or Tuesday, but don’t hold your breath; next week is my first real vacation in years so I plan on kicking back and relaxing until a melt into an unrecognizable blob of ooze. Of course after about an hour of that I’ll get bored and work on the strip. At any rate Chaos 3 is about 99% complete; I need to do a couple of minor digital touch-ups and it’ll be ready to post. Dave has already colored it. Chaos 4 will be ready to post sometime late next week.
In case you haven’t noticed, Dave and I are trying to stick to a 1-2 strips per week schedule. We don’t post on specific days, but we are trying to get at least one strip up per week. We will continue doing this as long as we are able, and we make no promises, but it’s a schedule we should be able to keep for the forseeable future.
And as a parting note, as it turns out, RIT is trying to kill me. I’ve ranted here before about how they are making me get my immunizations again because they lost the records that I sent them 9 years ago (even though I only graduated 5 years ago and they are supposed to keep the records for 10 years after graduation). Even though I attended public school in New Hampshire, which has even more strict immunization requirements than RIT does, and even though I attended RIT for 5 years in the 90’s, they still wanted me to get the shot. Well, it turns out that for someone my age that has already been immunized, the shots are potentially deadly. Great news, huh! And even though I swore up and down to these people that I had been previously immunized they still insisted that I get the shots without ever warning me that there was a potential danger! It’s a good thing my doctor picked up on it.
So instead of getting a shot this Monday I will be undergoing the even less pleasant procedure of having blood drawn; thanks a lot RIT!
